The Munich Agreement (1938)
The Munich Agreement was negotiated and signed in just three weeks from September 15-29, 1938. British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, French Premier Γdouard Daladier, Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, and German Chancellor Adolf Hitler met in Munich to resolve the Sudetenland crisis. The agreement allowed Germany to annex the Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia, but failed to prevent World War II, which began less than a year later.
Three Mile Island Nuclear Accident (1979)
The Three Mile Island nuclear accident occurred on March 28, 1979, and the crisis was largely resolved within three weeks. A partial meltdown of the nuclear reactor core led to the release of radioactive gases and required extensive cleanup efforts.
